Resume Don’ts

March 25, 2022

Pretty much everyone has a resume, even if it’s out of date. I have few things I would suggest you should NOT do when it comes to updating your resume.

First of all, please don’t use generic statements. Your resume should be highly focused on communicating your relevant skills and experience, not fluff and job descriptions. Secondly, don’t make assumptions. Your resume may not be reviewed by someone who understands your position, or by a person at all, in some cases. You need to make sure your resume includes enough keywords that match what the company is looking for, to pass the initial screen. Third, along those lines, don’t forget to customize your resume. Customize it for the position you’re applying to, every time.

Lastly, don’t forget to proofread. Proofread multiple times, and have someone else proofread your resume too. Make sure it makes sense, there are no grammatical errors, and it speaks to your goals.
